Becoming aware of the upcoming month’s national days and important dates is a fantastic way to plan your content for your socials. It’s also a great way to inspire some creativity for your content if you’re feeling a little out of sorts for ideas.
I’ve selected a bunch of National days throughout this month, along with some content ideas to offer a little inspiration for your content for the month ahead…
Important days
November 1, National Authors Day - Share your favourite book. Or perhaps a quote from a book that you love? Or better yet, share some authors that you love and spread the appreciation.
November 5, Guy Fawkes Night/Bonfire Night - share how you’ll be spending Bonfire Night! Adding a little bit of a personal touch is a great way to allow your followers to get to know you better.
November 10, National Forget-Me-Not Day - Share something perhaps a little obscure, or a fact about you/your business that will make people remember you. We want to stick in people’s minds, so use this to your advantage!
November 12 , National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day - Share a motivational quote. Or a funny meme.
November 13, World Kindness Day - Spread the love, share some knowledge, or a freebie. Or best of all, share some other accounts that you love. This day is all about kindness, especially random acts of kindness, so get creative and share the love.
November 16, National Button Day - Although this day is a slightly obscure one, it fits the bill perfectly for anyone in the textiles community. Show us your button collection, share your favourite designs that include snazzy buttons, or take us material/accessory shopping with you. (For the chocolate or baking lovers out there, why not get creative with chocolate buttons and share your work?).
November 17, National Take a Hike Day - Why not make the effort to take some time throughout the day to go on a hike, or even just a gentle stroll around the block. Take your phone with you, record a few snippets and make it into a reel! If you’re a travel, wellbeing or fitness account, then this is the perfect day to show off some amazing hikes around the world or share some benefits of hiking.
November 20, National Peanut Butter Fudge Day - This is one for all those with a keen sweet tooth out their! Any sweet treat, or baked-goods day is the perfect opportunity for bakers to get busy in the kitchen and get making.
November 21, World Hello Day - What better excuse to say hello to your audience than on World Hello Day? If you don’t typically show up on your stories this could be a fantastic opportunity to do so! Maybe tell your audience a little something extra about yourself, or invite them onto a live with you?
November 23, Doctor Who Day - Recall your favourite TV programme, this could be something that you enjoyed watching growing up, or a more recent favourite. Or why not get a little more creative, where would you visit in the Doctor’s Tardis if you could visit anywhere?
November 24, National Jukebox Day - Let your audience know your favourite song. This can be incorporated into a reel, or just as a static post. You could post the lyrics of your favourite song, or perhaps their album cover, explain why you love it in your caption along with a CTA (call to action) of ‘what’s your favourite song - comment below!’ to encourage your audience to engage and to make connections.
November 25, Thanksgiving - In the true spirit of Thanksgiving (even if you’re based in the UK!), share some appreciation. Whether this be a post focused on thanking your audience for their continued support, or a list of things you’re grateful for.
November 26, Black Friday - If you’re a small business, especially if you sell products, this is a date you should 100% have in your diary! Use this date to promote your products and any upcoming sales (in fact, it’s always worth teasing, and promoting sales before the launch date to create anticipation!). The same applies for Cyber Monday on the 29th.
November 27, Small Business Saturday - Shout out a small business that deserves some love, or if you’re a small business yourself why not let us in on your story (why did you start, what you love most about running your own business).
November 30, National Day of Giving - Give something away, or offer a deal. If you’re a designer this could be a free phone wallpaper, or perhaps some tips & tricks from your industry that would be of value to your audience.
National Weeks:
First Week of November, National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week - Share with your followers/customers cute clips of animals on your stories, or as a reel - they always make people happy and it’s the perfect chance to promote this week.
Second Week of November, National Young Readers Week - Share your favourite books, or literature quotes with your audience. Why not reminisce over your favourite novels as a child?
Week of November 13, National Kindness week (this is also celebrated in February) - Share one act of kindness (whether it’s for your self… I’m all about self-love! Or for someone else), each day, on your stories. You could then translate this into a reel at the end of the week. Another option is to create a post on your main feed, encouraging your audience to perform one random act of kindness throughout the week and comment below when they’ve done it and what they did. If you fancied, you could take this one step further, and choose someone from the comments section to win a giveaway of your product or service.
I hope some of these ideas help you out! Let me know if you’d like me to make this a monthly thing.
