The Best Times To Post On Social Media

Simply put, the best time to post on social media is specific to your business and your following, so keep a close eye on your engagement, reach and story views. It’s also worth keeping an eye on your insights, you can actually find out when your audience is most active throughout the day via your insights which is so useful to know - it means you can tailor the times you post accordingly!

Ultimately, yes, your best times to post are specific to you, however, there’s no denying that there are definitely better and worse times to post. There are several factors to consider, and are at play, when it comes to the ‘best’ time to post on social media, one of which being your industry, as it all comes down to your specific audience and when they are most active.

Each social media platform has a different demographic and users will use the platform differently and at different times of the day. It is also worth noting that some days are better to post than others, and the best times to post can differ between each day.

So, as a general rule, here are the best days and times to post across different socials (in the UK):

Facebook

  • Best times: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 9 a.m –1 p.m

  • Best days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

  • Worst day: Saturday due to lack of activity.

    Instagram

  • Best times: Tuesday anytime between 11 a.m–2 p.m, as this corresponds with lunch-breaks!
Also, Monday through to Friday 11 a.m.

  • Best day: Tuesday.

  • Worst day: Sunday due to lack of activity.

    Twitter

  • Best times: Wednesday 9 a.m– 3 p.m.
Tuesday through to Thursday 9–11 a.m.

  • Best day: Wednesday.

  • Worst day: Saturday.

    LinkedIn

  • Best times: Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m–noon.

  • Best days: Tuesday and Wednesday.

  • Worst day: Sunday *As a rule, activity on LinkedIn is far higher during the working weeks due to it being the most popular work based/networking platform.

    Pinterest

  • Best times: Saturday 8-11p.m.

  • Best days: Saturday

  • Worst Day: Working days & working hours.

Generally, posting during lunch breaks, or before or after work (9 a.m. - 5.30 p.m, and remember commuting time too), is the best time to post. Posting at the best times for your audience can make a different to reach and engagement, but ultimately my biggest advice is to stay consistent and post during sociable hours.
